The Jakarta native singer-songwriter Natasha Valerie Kurnia was born in the After Summer of ’99. In 2015, she moved from Indonesia to Seattle, where she found her voice as a songwriter, melancholic and melodic, as it echoed across an unfamiliar city. When she then moved to New York for school, life taught her many lessons; more about writing music, more about herself, and more about how loneliness feels the same everywhere. She became Navakaine; the one who gets carried away with the violent rush, writes her truths and numbs it down.
Skyliner is about when the afterglow of love fades out; the cooling of passion into chilled smoke. It always hurts to lose someone, but the moments you hold them right before you lose them sometimes hurts the most. For anyone who’s ever loved and lost, for those who’ve walked through the muted twilight nightmare right before the crash that parts you – this song is for you.
