Bay Area artist SurferBOY’s newest release, “Layla,” is a haunting yet light-hearted track that tells the story of a missed connection with a girl he met once. The first song off of his Love Song, Drug Song, Hug Song EP, SurferBOY’s storytelling abilities shine through as he shares his experience with the listener. His sound is truly one of a kind and is sure to leave an impression on anyone who listens.
The music video for “Layla” is just as unique as the track itself. SurferBOY wanted to involve the kids he works with, so he shot the video during study hall at the school where he works. The kids sang along to SurferBOY’s other tracks, but he was still disappointed that he didn’t get to perform “Layla” for them. That’s when he got the idea to shoot the music video with the kids, and the end result is a heartwarming and uplifting visual that perfectly complements the song.
