Tommy-G recently released his third single “Did You Cry?” from his upcoming project “Worship No Idols” project which is due out on the 16th of February. The song deals with the Irish rappers broken friendship with a person from his past. He give us an insight onto how a friendship ending can be as harmful to your mental health as the loss of a romantic relationship. He asks a lot of questions of himself on who is to blame and deals with the guilt that he feels. He asks himself and his past friend many questions and even alludes to many mistakes that they both made. The thing that seems to hurt him the most is the lack of communication and how the friends seems to be able to just forget all they went through together and how that effects his mental health.
The song feels therapeutic in a sense. Tommy wants to rebuild this bridge and even if that doesn’t happen he wants to get it off his chest and begin the process of healing. The song is accompanied by visuals from the hit anime “Cowboy Bebop”. The video focus’s on the relationship of the characters Spike and Faye from the acclaimed show. It is eerie in it’s parallels to what Tommy is discussing on the song. A very haunting visual.
