Dizzy

IR: Let’s get to know a little bit more about you and how you grew up. So where do you consider hometown and what type of kid were you growing up?

DD: I was born in Santa Ana, CA, but I was raised in Rockford, IL. Growing up I just wanted to create, simple as that lol. I had a broad imagination, and was attracted to whatever was the best outlet at times. I had a passion for film at one point, but music took over when I noticed it just worked better for me.

IR: How old were you when you developed an interest in music?

DD: I think at 11 is when I realized I had a knack for it.

IR: What was the first album you ever listened to? Can you remember back that far?

DD: Maybe a Disney album lol. But I think the first one I seriously listened to was Brown Sugar by D’Angelo

IR: When and how did you begin your journey in the world of music?

DD: 6th grade when I really started to pay attention to Kanye. I wanted to make beats for awhile before that, but after hearing his story and his passion I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to produce. I didn’t know I would be rapping.

IR: What influences shaped your musical style?

DD: 90’s Rap, blame my Uncle Mike. A Tribe Called quest, De La Soul, Souls of Mischief aka Hieroglyphics, Gang Starr.. I can go on forever. Also a good mix of R&B and Neo Soul.

IR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?

DD: Old school with a new school twist. It’s something smooth with the right amount of bass.

IR: Do you write a lot by yourself or do you have a partner or a group of people you work with?

DD: I vibe out with my team, but I write all my lyrics.

IR: What is your main goal at this point?

DD: To get to know myself more while making this music. I’m excited to discover my pro’s and con’s, and make the best out of what makes me – me.

IR: Have you learned any lessons so far and if so, what are they?

DD: 1. You have to believe in yourself. Period.2. Not every person in your life is meant to be there forever. But make the best out of your time together. The memories will help you through the hard times.3. God has your back even when you don’t have your back. Things may not happen how you want them to, but it makes the reward that much greater when it comes.

IR: Are there any artists you wish to work with in the future?

DD: There’s so many. Casey Veggies, Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper, Dom Kennedy, Michael Rocks, Pharrell, Q Tip, Kendrick Lamar, Big Krit, J. Cole, Wale.

IR: If you could create your dream tour, who would be a part of it?

DD: That’s a hard one. Um.. J Cole, Nipsey Hussle, Big Krit, Drake

IR: Where can we find your music?

DD: Itunes, Soundcloud, Vevo

IR: We ask all the artists we interview, what’s the best piece of advice someone’s ever given to you?

DD: Don’t live your life for anyone else but you. Only when your happy is when you’ll please the ones that truly care about you.
