IR: Let’s get to know a little bit more about you and how you grew up. So where do you consider hometown and what type of kid were you growing up?

TT: Well I was born right outside of Chicago, but raised in Nor Cal.  I picked up a lot from both residences which made me who I am today.  I actually consider both home.

IR: How old were you when you developed an interest in music?

TT: From birth.  Music is in my genetics.  I come from a long line of singers, musicians, and entertainers etc..

IR: What was the first album you ever listened to? Can you remember back that far?

TT:  I’m not sure.  However, I do know that I was exposed to all types of music coming up.  My mother played everything from Steve Wonder and Anita Baker all the way to Al B sure and Force M.D.  I heard so much music from different genres and ages, It felt like I came up in the old school era.  But when I compare the time that the music was actually released to my age, I’m like no way in hell I could have known anything about this then.  Lol.. A lot of it was released way before I was born.  But the music was so timeless then.

IR: When and how did you begin your journey in the world of music?

TT: I was always singing in school talent shows, plays, and things of that nature.  I then joined the choir in high school where I was closely coached by my instructor Maria Wilson.  I always had to have a solo, but she made me work for everyone.  She helped to humble me.  I thought I was some big shot but she told me I sounded like a chipmunk.  LOL…  She began helping me find my voice.  Soon after that, while still in high school, my older brother and I started a boy band called “Undivided.”  We toured, we traveled, and we had fun.  We did the Grammy’s thing every year.  We almost were signed to Clive Davis.  Due to bad management, the deal got screwed up.  Shortly after that, I started my solo career and here I am.

IR: What influences shaped your musical style?

TT: Steve Wonder and Michael Jackson of course.  My older brother and my parents.

IR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?

TT: Terin Thompson.  I’m always going to give you Terin Thompson.  There’s no other way to describe it.

IR: Do you write a lot by yourself or do you have a partner or a group of people you work with?

TT:  I write all of my own material, but I do have a producer I have worked with for years.  Goldfingaz.  The name is self explanatory.  We have a musical chemistry similar to Timbaland and Justin Timberlake’s

IR: What is your main goal at this point?

TT: To Be heard. To share my story and to help others say things they don’t know how to.  I want to contribute myself to the game.  I want to make the world see what I see and say “damn bro, I feel you.”

IR: Have you learned any lessons so far and if so, what are they?

TT: Yes.  I learned not  to conform and try and keep up with the times. I learned to do me and what feels natural.  Real fans can feel the real in you.  NO FACADE.  Start your own movement.

IR: Are there any artists you wish to work with in the future?

TT:  It may sound crazy, but I want to work with Michael Jackson, 2pac, and Alyah.  Timbaland, Missy, Kanye, Steve Wonder, and Will I am.  And as many artists as I possibly can.

IR: If you could create your dream tour, who would be a part of it?

TT: Anyone in the game I could learn from.

IR: Where can we find your music? Online and offline?

TT: “The songwriter” mix tape is on Datpiff, My new single “Session” is on iTunes, My video “Smile” is on YouTube.

IR: We ask all the artists we interview, what’s the best piece of advice someone’s ever given to you?

TT: Put god first, Do you and whats natural to you, and stay true to yourself.  Don’t get lost in this game.
