IR: Let’s get to know a little bit more about you and how you grew up. So where do you consider hometown and what type of kid were you growing up?
DJ: I was born and raised in Camden, NJ. I was the kid that was always into creativy. I loved video games and music videos.
IR: How old were you when you developed an interest in music?
DJ: I would say I was 12 when I started writing music. I loved music my whole life.
IR: What was the first album you ever listened to? Can you remember back that far?
DJ: The first album I listened to was Ready to die by the notorious B.I.G.
IR: When and how did you begin your journey in the world of music?
DJ: I was 12 and decided to participate in the school talent show. The crowd loved my lyrics and that gave me to confidence to pursue music professionally
IR: What influences shaped your musical style?
DJ: Freeway, Jay Z, Kanye West, Wu Tang Clan and many others.
IR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?
DJ: It’s a blend between commercial and conscious. The listener can fall in love with both the beat and the message behind the music.
IR: Do you write a lot by yourself or do you have a partner or a group of people you work with?
DJ: I write all of my music. Its about my life and how im feeling at the moment.
IR: What is your main goal at this point?
DJ: My main goal is for the world to hear my sound. I want to create something that will live forever.
IR: Have you learned any lessons so far and if so, what are they?
DJ: You have to invest in yourself and your craft if you expect to go far in anything.
IR: Are there any artists you wish to work with in the future?
DJ: Talib Kweli, Midnight Red, Lupe Fiasco, and Childish Gambino to name a few
IR: Where can we find your music? Online and offline?
DJ: My new single, “A Stripper’s Story” is available on Itunes,Google Play, Spotify and many other online stores.
IR: We ask all the artists we interview, what’s the best piece of advice someone’s ever given to you?
DJ: My mother always told me to give everything my all. That’s what drives me.
