JP The Great aka Jahmal Potter is a great indie artist and is next to take over the music scene.

IR: Let’s get to know a little bit more about you and how you grew up. So where do you consider hometown and what type of kid were you growing up?

JP: I was born and raised in Va Beach, VA, and I played football everyday of my life. My dad wasnt around much so it was my mom with 5 kids.

IR: How old were you when you developed an interest in music?

JP: I was in 5th grade when my friends dared me to rap and they told me they liked to hear me do it so they kept daring me and asking me and telling me how good i was.

IR: What was the first album you ever listened to? Can you remember back that far?

JP: It was DMX its dark and Hell is hot

IR: When and how did you begin your journey in the world of music?

JP: I battled people in high school and demolished every single one of them

IR: What influences shaped your musical style?

JP:Andre 3000, Jay Z, Lauren Hill

IR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?

JP: Closely related to BOB

IR: Do you write a lot by yourself or do you have a partner or a group of people you work with?

JP: I write every single word

IR: What is your main goal at this point? 

JP: To travel the world performing and writing music

IR: Have you learned any lessons so far and if so, what are they?

JP: Yes that if you want to get a label to sign you, you have to be big first, they dont want starter artist without much of a following, get the people first

IR: Are there any artists you wish to work with in the future?

JP: Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Ludacris, Jay z, Andre 3000

IR: If you could create your dream tour, who would be a part of it?

JP: Eminem, Jay z Andre 3000, Kendrick, Alicia Keys

JP: Be persistent and dont wait around for people to help you, do as much as you can on your own and then do more.
